We blinked and it's September!

This is the time of year I check the weather with optimism. I don't even remember February's freezing temperatures. My sweaters are stacked neatly, ready to be worked into my clothing rotation. I've got a similar pile of quilts vying for a spot on my bed. It won't be long before we are seeing (and eating!) pumpkin everything. Ahhh... I need to check the weather forecast again ;)

We are excited about these sweater patterns...

There was a new sweater pattern sighting at the shop today and it instantly went on "The List". It just published and is available as a DK sweater, tee, or fingering weight tee...and even matching socks! The pattern is by Sarah Opie and the version we saw was the Ali's Tee | Light. Purchase 3 of her "Ali's" patterns and get a special bundle price. Be sure to check out sunshineknit2's version of the sweater--it's the one that got us hooked today :) Yarn options for this sweater include Pascouli Puno or Puno Winikunka, Amano Chaski, or any of many wool options.

I'm one sleeve away from finishing Boyland Knit's Easy V. So far this sweater looks great on everyone who has tried it on. I used La Bien Aimee's Corrie Worsted and 3 different colors of Spincycle Dream State. I have a feeling you're going to be seeing this one a lot!

And even though it's not a sweater, who can resist the Autumn Doodle by Jamie Lomax??? I found some Primrose Roan DK skeins that would be awfully cute in this cowl...or the hat...or the cup cozy...

DFW Fiber Fest is back!

It's been a long wait but DFW Fiber Fest is back at the Irving Convention Center after a 2 year break, September 23-25. This is the most anticipated fiber show in the area. There are classes, an area for knitting, and a vendor floor. We will not be at the show this year, but hopefully you'll come see us at the shop...with some show and tell! We will be open as usual, 9:30-8 on Thursday, 9:30-4 on Friday and Saturday, and 12-4 on Sunday.

Fabric, Toweling, and more

We are always looking forward to new fabric collections coming to the shop. Collections are still running behind schedule but are starting to catch up a little. We also got pretty excited about some new toweling and patterns to go with them. A favorite is a stocking advent pattern--so cute! Both the toweling and patterns are on order but should hit the shop with plenty of time to get them done before the weather cools. Oh, and there's a backpack pattern too!

McKinney Oktoberfest is Sept 23-25. Prost!

Sharing dates with DFW Fiber Fest this year is the annual Oktoberfest event in Downtown McKinney. The streets will be closed to make room for vendors, food booths, lots of music, and even weiner dog races! I can guarantee the Chicken Dance will be performed probably multiple times. It will be ticketless this year, so no waiting in line for tickets so you can wait in line a second time for food/beer. We will be open regular hours. I highly recommend taking advantage of the free shuttle at First McKinney Baptist church, 1615 W Louisiana Street. Dust off that dirndl and get in the spirit of Oktoberfest!

See you soon!
