Whether you go to New York Sheep & Wool in Rhinebeck, New York or not, you can join in the event by making this beautiful sweater. The colorwork is a nod to traditional star quilts, while the sweater pattern is reminiscent of Andrea's Weekender sweater.

This is a demonstration show-and-share class where we will explore how to shop for and substitute other yarn for your projects. We will discuss yarn types, weights and fibers, aesthetics, structure (loftiness, hand, drape), gauge, and swatching, as well as how to determine appropriate quantities for your projects and some real life example case studies where yarn was substituted (some that worked, others that did not). Come learn to knit in the round! In this class, you will learn how to cast on loosely, join, and work on circular needles in the round to make the Simple Yet Effective cowl from Tin Can Knits. We will use DK or worsted weight yarn to work stockinette and reverse stockinette stitches in the round. You can add in some seed stitch or yarn overs for eyelets once you get the hang of things if you feel ambitious. You will also learn tips for joining, marker placement, and binding off. Going around and around is fun and relaxing, so come treat yourself to this new skill!

In this class, we will use the free Quick Ombre Hat pattern by Emily Dormier and two contrasting colors of yarn to make a stranded color work beanie. You will learn how to add a new color, how to carry your yarns, and how to capture and properly tension floats. We will also discuss what color dominance is, why it is important, and how to position your yarns to best showcase your stranded color work. ***PLEASE NOTE: pre-work is required for this class.***

Are you a brand new sock knitter, or just want a closer look at three different types of sock heels? Come celebrate Socktober at our Sock Social! Students will rotate through 3 Sock Heel stations: Heel Flap + Gusset, Short Row and Afterthought. Each station will include 30 minutes of each instructor sharing quick demos, samples and tips. Students will receive a handout with the highlights of each type of heel. If students don't wish to visit every station, they can "sit one out" and knit their sock projects and enjoy some snacks!

Have fun with color and knit the Stripe Hype Sweater with Melissa! It is worked in a DK weight yarn with one main base color and 5 contrasting colors. This is an invitation to practice developing a color palette. *Note: If you’ve got a lot of fingering weight yarn in your stash, you can even hold 2 strands of fingering weight yarn double to get the DK weight. The work begins by working the back flat, then stitches are picked up for the left and right front separately and worked flat. The back and front are then joined together and the body is worked in the round. Stitches are picked up for the sleeves and worked in the round and lastly stitches are picked up around the neckline and the collar is worked in a twisted rib stitch. This is a 4-session class.
