First Sweater (5 Sessions, Room A)

Are you ready to knit a sweater? Learn basic sweater knitting techniques in this top-down, raglan sleeve sweater class using our new shop pattern -- The McKinney Raglan. This is a 5-session class. Skills taught include using a gauge swatch, choosing the right size, increases for sleeves, picking up sleeve stitches and German short rows.
Class overview:
Session 1 - Sizing / Neckline
Session 2 - Sweater Skills: German Short Rows and increases
Session 3 - Yoke
Session 4 - Body
Session 5 - Sleeves
Important: If you need to miss one of the 5 sessions, a makeup session can be scheduled as a private lesson (rates vary per instructor).

| Skill Details: | Must be comfortable with casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, knitting in the round, and binding off. Skills taught include choosing size for correct fit, increases for raglan shaping, separating for sleeves, German short rows and how to block a garment. You will receive an email one week before class with information about supplies and instructions for knitting a gauge swatch. |
| Requirements: | The McKinney Raglan pattern, DK weight yarn, needles to obtain gauge and basic knitting supplies. An email will be sent one week before class outlining gauge swatch homework. |

| Instructor Bio: | Keri’s favorite projects are sweaters, but she’ll occasionally knit a cozy pair of socks. She’s starting to explore quilting and is rarely without a good book. With her background in teaching, Keri brings a welcoming energy to her beginner sweater class. At home, she’s kept company by her husband, her two daughters, and her two golden retrievers. |
