Sophie Scarf (2 Sessions, Room A)

Ready to take the next step in your knitting journey? Join us as we knit the beloved Sophie Scarf by PetiteKnit! This class is perfect for confident beginners who are ready to build new skills while creating a timeless accessory. Want to make yours extra special? I’ll also show you how to create a beautiful striped version using two different yarns. Striping is completely optional, but highly encouraged! Whether you choose Spincycle or mix and match any two yarns you love, it’s a fun way to create a one-of-a-kind scarf. Over the course of two sessions, you’ll learn how to confidently read a knitting pattern, count and track stitches and rows, increase and decrease for shaping, place and use stitch markers, work a polished i-cord edge, create clean stripes, weave in ends, and pick up plenty of helpful knitting tips along the way. These foundational techniques will give you the confidence to tackle countless knitting projects in the future.

Please note: Between the first and second class, you’ll have time to knit independently to the designated stopping point so you’ll be ready for the next session. Please be sure both class dates fit your schedule before registering.

Skill Level:	Beginner
Skill Details:	This is for an advanced beginner. Students must be able to confidently cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.
Requirements:	Students will need all of the following items. Yarn: At least 150 yards of a plied yarn in any weight (choose something soft and comfortable to wear around your neck!). If you’d like to make a striped Sophie Scarf, bring two yarns you’d love to alternate—Spincycle creates a beautiful effect, but any two compatible yarns will work. Knitting needles in the recommended size for your chosen yarn (straight or circular needles; cable length is not important). The Sophie Scarf pattern by PetiteKnit (available on Ravelry). Please bring a printed copy to class. Stitch markers. Scissors or snips.

Instructor Bio:	Allison joined the shop last year and quickly felt right at home among the yarns and fabrics. Though she came from a background in sewing — having spent years creating quilts, bags, and other projects alongside her mom — she discovered a whole new creative world when she learned to knit after joining the shop. Now she’s just as likely to have knitting needles in her hands as a sewing machine pedal under her foot.
