Making Loops: Granny Squares
Although the granny square rose to fame in the 1970s, it made its debut much earlier, in 1897 England. One hundred and twenty-seven years on, this iconic pattern remains a much-loved motif. And thanks to its unmatched versatility, the granny square can shape shift into almost anything: bags, belts, blankets, cardigans, capes, coasters, headbands, jewelry, scarfs, shawls, skirts, sweaters…the list goes on. They are endless fun to make—the perfect portable project. For adults, or 14+ if they meet the skill requirements.
