Meet the Team
Ginger Hayes, ownerGinger is a long-time crafter with a fiber obsession. Fabric was a big part of her life until she discovered yarn, and now both occupy a large part of her craft room.
In 2015, she started McKinney Knittery with just a little space in a boutique mall. The shop has grown into its fourth location and now stocks both yarn and fabric.
Ginger loves any shade of pink, enjoys knitting sweaters, and doesn’t get to sew as much as she'd like. She recently started a yarn dyeing company (Honey Hill Yarn).
Ginger and her husband have 4 grown kids, 5 grandkids, 2 dogs, some chickens, and several beehives.
Melissa CremerMelissa is the queen of sweater knitting and teaches lots of sweater classes at the shop. She also has made too many hats, socks, and shawls to count. She has been knitting since before Ravelry and is a virtual library of popular knitting patterns. Crocheting eludes her, but she certainly knows her way around a sewing machine. In addition to knitting, she loves cats and french fries. She was the first McKinney Knittery staff member and we hope she is at the shop forever.

Meredith SuteraMeredith is a true left handed, continental knitter, and can knit a sock faster than the eye can see! If you appreciate our Sunday hours, you have Meredith to thank. She is the reason the shop is open on Sundays because she mentioned wanting to work at the shop and that Sundays fit her schedule, so we added Sunday hours for Meredith! She orders and receives most of the yarn that comes through the shop--another reason to thank her. She loves holidays, especially Halloween, and has amazing tree-decorating skills.

Bobbi SinclairBobbi is a teacher and has taught many students at her school how to knit. She is famous for encouraging students to “knit the entire ball of yarn and THEN we will choose a project”! She loves books and can recommend all the best young adult book titles. You are most likely to find Bobbi at the shop hosting one of the evening Knit Togethers, but sometimes we get lucky and get to see her on the weekends.

Kristen BadowskiKristen is the Communications and Class Coordinator at the shop. She is the creative force behind the shop’s social media, newsletter, signs, and anything else needing an artistic touch. Kristen is a firm believer one can never have too many bags. She is also the first one to take a tiny bit of inspiration and turn it into a finished product overnight! She is a proud dachshund mom and lover of all things cute (the more whimsical, the better!)

Betsy AndersonBetsy has been involved in the fiber community for many years as a weaver, yarn dyer, quilter, and knitter. Her grandmother taught her to knit when she was only 5 years old! She has been quilting since 1994. Currently, most of her craft time is devoted to knitting sweaters. She is a grandma of 2 adorable little girls, and dog mom to a darling golden doodle.

Kim PenroseKim comes to us from a strong quilting background and teaches quilting at the shop. Her favorite quilts are scrappy quilts and her stash is amazing! She also knits a little and has completed a few small projects. She prefers a computer to a cash register, but is very adept at both. Like a magician, she can transform numbers and data into charts, graphs, and spreadsheets. She prefers tea to coffee and is always in search of the perfect chai.
Beth FalcoBeth loves fabric! She receives every bolt of fabric that comes through the shop…and she loves them all! Beth is predominantly a quilter and has been quilting for about 35 years. However, she dabbles in all sorts of other creative outlets with beautiful results. You should see the cookbook she made for her daughter’s bridal shower! She has a soft spot for animals, especially chickens. Halloween is her favorite holiday.
Patty MulfordPatty has been knitting and quilting for over 25 years. A 4th generation quilter, she credits her love of pink from the binding of a Dresden Plate quilt on her childhood bed made by her Maternal Great Grandmother. She loves cheering on beginners, helping people learn to read their knitting, and celebrates mistakes as an opportunity to learn. She will always ask if you’ve made a gauge swatch. Patty is almost always up before the sun, loves a cold brew spritz, bike rides and walking in the sunshine. Her family is her most precious gift.

Kelly HelliwigKelly first learned to knit when she was eight years old, but it took another 25 years for her to progress beyond garter-stitched scarves. Now a dedicated continental knitter, Kelly never leaves the house without two WIPs—typically a sweater and a backup pair of two-at-a-time magic-looped, cuff-down socks. A better knitter than she is a sewer, Kelly longs for the day when she can confidently cut into a perfectly placed welt pocket.

Allison MastersAllison joined the shop in August and quickly felt right at home among the yarns and fabrics. Though she came from a background in sewing — having spent years creating quilts, bags, and other projects alongside her mom — she discovered a whole new creative world when she learned to knit after joining the shop. Now she’s just as likely to have knitting needles in her hands as a sewing machine pedal under her foot.
Donna is a Texas girl who learned to knit in fourth grade when her brave teacher decided to teach the whole class — yarn, needles, and all! Her first dishcloth may have had “character,” but it sparked a lifelong love of knitting. She's since become a joyful “fiber curator” (some say collector!) and still finds endless happiness in every skein. These days, she calls Flower Mound home, where I live with my husband, Jim, and our dog, Travis — who knows better than to tangle with her yarn stash.

Keri’s favorite projects are sweaters, but she’ll occasionally knit a cozy pair of socks. She’s starting to explore quilting and is rarely without a good book. With her background in teaching, Keri brings a welcoming energy to her beginner sweater class. At home, she’s kept company by her husband, her two daughters, and her two golden retrievers.
