Longarm Quilt Services
McKinney Knittery and Downtown Dry Goods is now offering longarm quilting services through a local experienced and trusted business, Happy Quilts. Jeff and Diann Loper of Happy Quilts have been quilting for many years and have hundreds of satisfied customers both locally and across the country. They have been in business for 20 years and operate 6 long arm machines, averaging over 200 quilts per month with a turnaround time of approximately two weeks.
Calculating quilting costs: $0.02 per square inch - Example: If your quilt top measures 56x72 inches that is 4,032 square inches. 4032 inches x $0.02 = $80.64. There is a minimal charge of $50.
Batting prices are as follows:
80/20 Blend: $10 per yard
100% Cotton: $12 per yard
Black: $10 per yard
White: $10 Per yard
Wool: $18 per yard
Or you can provide your own batting
Thread costs are included. You can choose from the following:
Quilter's Choice: you trust our expertise and we choose a color for you
Blend: we choose a color that blends into your quilt
Color: tell us which color thread you would like
Backing: Provide your quilt back (quilt backs can be pieced by the quilter for $10 a seam if you'd rather let them do it). Quilt backs must measure 8" longer and 8" wider than the quilt top to allow the quilt to be loaded onto the longarm quilting machine. The quilt is usually centered on the backing fabric unless otherwise requested.
Note: Leaders - Should leaders need to be added to your backing because it's not big enough, there will be a $10 charge per needed seam.
Binding is available as follows: $0.18 per linear inch by machine | $0.30 per linear inch by hand.
Simply choose your quilt design (see options below), click and print the Longarm Quilting Intake Form, fill it out completely at home, and bring your quilt to the shop. You can even use the "stop and drop off" option where you park out front and we come and get your quilt. But we really would love to see you, so please pop in if you have time. When possible, you can select if looser or denser quilting is prefered.
