Come play with knitted plaits! Whether you are a confident beginner looking for something new or an experienced knitter trying to bust out of a rut, this class is for you. A plaited stitch in knitting is a stitch that is twisted either clockwise or counterclockwise by manipulating the stitch mount. Plaited stitches can be used as allover patterns or as embellishments, and they create unique surface texture and depth. In this hands-on class, you will learn several techniques for creating plaited stitch patterns in a single yarn color, including ribs, crossed stitches, braids, honeycombs, faux cables, and zig-zags. We will discuss stitch mount, and you will learn several techniques for twisting stitches. We will also examine beautiful examples of plaited stitch projects for inspiration. You should be able to proficiently cast on, knit, and purl. Come prepared to think outside the stitch and be ready to learn something new...even when it might require pointing your needles toward Venus and holding your mouth right. Fair warning: playing with plaits is quite addictive, and you will come away with a plethora of new project plans!

Cost: $ 30.00
Have you ever crafted something that did not turn out how you wanted? Are you searching for the right yarn to use with a pattern you love? Do you have yarn you adore and need a great pattern for it? Has the yarn specified for your pattern been discontinued? We have all been there! This is a demonstration show-and-share class where we will explore how to shop for and substitute other yarn for your projects. We will discuss yarn types, weights and fibers, aesthetics, structure (loftiness, hand, drape), gauge, and swatching, as well as how to determine appropriate quantities for your projects and some real life example case studies where yarn was substituted (some that worked, others that did not). Bring yarn and patterns that have been eluding you - I can help!

Cost: $ 30.00
Turn a "whoops" into a "well done!" Learn how to read your stitches so you can find and fix simple knitting mistakes with confidence.

Cost: $ 30.00
Are your stitches too tight? Is your work too loose and lumpy? Do your wrists get sore? Want to be able to carry your yarn a different way? You have found the right class. Tension issues are fixable! Bring a work in progress (WIP) to class and we will evaluate what is happening and make modifications to even out, loosen, or tighten your tension. Please note, this is not a beginner knitting class or a fix-your-mistakes class. Students should already be knitting and have a project in progress that they would like to be able to improve with better tension.

Cost: $ 30.00
Come learn how to knit socks! If you can confidently knit, purl, decrease, and work in the round (using DPNs, two circulars, or magic loop method), you can make socks. In this class we will knit an entire baby sock from top to toe using beginner friendly worsted weight yarn. You will learn the anatomy of a sock, a simple short row technique, and how to pick up stitches for the heel gusset. Afterward, you can apply the news skills you have learned to make socks of any size!

Cost: $ 40.00
Come get stranded, but in a good way! Stranded color work is a method used most often for fair isle types of designs where there is more than one color on a single row. Any unused yarn strands (aka floats) are carried across the back of the work until they are ready to be worked again. In this class, we will use the free Quick Ombre Hat pattern by Emily Dormier and two contrasting colors of yarn to make a stranded color work beanie. You will learn how to add a new color, how to carry your yarns, and how to capture and properly tension floats. We will also discuss what color dominance is, why it is important, and how to position your yarns to best showcase your stranded color work. ***PLEASE NOTE: pre-work is required for this class.***

Cost: $ 40.00
This is a beginning knitting class for ages 8-13 only. Come learn how to knit! In this class, you will learn the very basics of knitting, including how to tie a slip knot, how to cast on, and the knit stitch. We will make a small practice swatch during class and you will receive a free pattern for a small knitting project you can do on your own. Please refer to the Requirements section for necessary class supplies.
