Come learn how to knit!  In this class, you will learn how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.  No experience?  No worries!  Whether you are a true beginner who has never held knitting needles before or it has been a minute since you have, this is the place for you.  We will cover basic knitting pattern terminology to work on a small piece that you can use as a coaster when you are finished.

Join Keri for knitting the Ciella II by Brit-Marie Brehmer! Pullover is knit from the top down with one strand of Kosho and one strand of Sensai held together throughout, starting from a ribbed mock neck collar. Shoulders are shaped with short rows, then the Front and Back are knit separately to the underarm, with a slipped stitch edging along the armhole. Body is worked in the round in Stockinette stitch, with waist shaping above a ribbed hem.

Are you ready to knit a sweater? Learn basic sweater knitting techniques in this top-down, raglan sleeve sweater class using our new shop pattern -- The McKinney Raglan sweater. This is a 5-session class. Skills taught include using a gauge swatch, choosing the right size, increases for sleeves, picking up sleeve stitches and optional German short rows.

Learn and practice stranded colorwork and German short rows with Melissa while making this beautiful sweater pattern by Midori Hirose. From the pattern's Ravelry description: A sweater inspired by Paul Klee's paintings. You will play with colors and develop their combinations with square motifs. You can mix and match many colors, or use just a few, for example 4 to 6 colors. This would be a great way to use up some of your minis or scraps.

The Eva Cardigan is worked from the top down. First, the top part of the back yoke is worked back and forth with increases, then the shoulders are worked from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the top of the back yoke. Stitches are then picked up and knitted along the shoulders, and the rest of the yoke is worked on a circular needle and worked with increases for the V-neck. The rest of the body is worked back and forth on a circular needle, and the sleeves are worked in the round. At the end, stitches are picked up and knitted along the front edges and a wide front placket is worked in 2 x 2 rib.

Join Keri for knitting the Stockholm Slipover by Petite Knit! The Stockholm Slipover vest is worked from the top down. The back part of the yoke is worked first, then the shoulders and front and finally the two sections are joined for the body of the slipover. The Stockholm Slipover has slanting shoulders that create a very good fit and which are shaped using short rows. Rib edges are worked along the neck edge and armholes, and all the edges are finished with an Italian bind-off.

Come hang out with Keri as she works through Patty Lyons’ Knitting Bag of Tricks Workbook this summer!  We will have snacks, conversations, and do this “book club style” while we learn about why we knit the way we knit. We will improve our knitting skills with practical exercises and swatching. Participants will receive a free McKinney Knittery Logo Tote at the first class to carry all their book club supplies! This will be a fun way for both experienced and beginner knitters to improve their craft.
